AEW Chaos #009 (9.27.24)

SEGMENT ONE

As Chaos comes onto the air, we see Logan Paul, decked in his signature flashy style, sunglasses on, as he strolls through the backstage area. Paul is holding his phone up for a quick vlog moment. As he starts to hype himself up for his followers, he’s interrupted by a hard shove from behind.

Logan stumbles forward, dropping his phone. He whips around to find the Aerial Assassin, Will Ospreay.

Logan Paul: [adjusting his sunglasses] Yo, what the fuck? What’s your problem, man? You broke my phone!

Will Ospreay: [stepping up, getting in Logan’s face] My problem? I was about to ask you the same, mate. You think I didn’t notice you getting involved in my match Monday? Handing MJF those brass knuckles like you’re part of the bloody show?

Logan smirks, casually brushing off his jacket, but you can see the tension starting to build.

Logan Paul: [shrugging] Look, it wasn’t personal. MJF’s my boy. I was just helping out a friend. Simple as that. I’m sure you’d do the same if you had any friends around here.

Will Ospreay: [sharply] Not personal? You cost me the match, you arrogant prick. As far as I’m concerned, you made it personal.

Logan’s smirk fades a bit as Ospreay takes another step closer. The two stare each other down, the air thick with hostility. Suddenly, Logan shoves Ospreay back, refusing to back down.

Logan Paul: [serious] You think I’m scared of you? Look, I didn’t ask for this, but I’m not gonna back off, either.

Ospreay immediately shoves him right back, chest bumping him as the tension escalates. Security rushes into the scene, scrambling to separate the two before it can turn into a full-blown fight. Logan is dragged back, glaring over the shoulders of security, while Ospreay is still trying to push forward.

Will Ospreay: This ain’t over, mate.

Logan, restrained but still talking tough, leans over the security guards with a defiant look.

Logan Paul: [grinning] Anytime, any place. Just say the word.

The two continue glaring at one another as security keeps them apart as the scene fades.

Arn Anderson and Kevin Kelly welcome us back to Chaos, commenting on what we just saw backstage. Anderson says Ospreay has every right to be angry, since Logan Paul’s assist to MJF Monday night resulted in his first loss since arriving to All Elite Wrestling.

Match #1 | Exhibition Match
‘Hangman’ Adam Page vs. Kaz

The bell sounds and we get a lockup to start as Hangman Adam Page muscles Kaz into the corner. The ref steps in for the break, and Page releases cleanly. Takedown by Page into a front headlock. Both men stand, and Page lifts Kaz for a suplex, but Kaz rolls him up—1…2…NO!

Kaz transitions into a drop toe hold and locks in a front facelock. Page powers to his feet, driving elbows into Kaz’s midsection. A knee strike from Kaz halts his momentum, followed by a swinging neckbreaker that Kaz holds onto for a tight squeeze. Page squirms free, hitting the ropes, but Kaz catches him with another knee to the midsection. Page responds by hoisting Kaz up and slamming him down with a body slam, then follows up with a stiff chop to the chest.

Arn Anderson: You can see it, Kev—this is a different Hangman than we’re used to. That whiskey bottle incident two weeks back, challenging Kenny and Bryan to a triple threat at Sympathy for the Devil… he’s walking a dangerous line.

Kevin Kelly: It’s as if he’s embracing a darker side, Arn. But can you blame him after all the setbacks? I think Hangman truly believes Kenny Omega was trying to change him!

Arn Anderson: Hate to see friendships fall apart, but this is what Hangman’s been missing. This intensity… this edge is what could finally push him to the next level.

Back in the ring, Page smashes Kaz with another chop, sending him into the corner. Kaz responds with a right hand, but Page fires back with a chop of his own. A short-arm chop rocks Kaz in the corner. Hangman lifts Kaz for a suplex and drops him hard, forcing Kaz to roll into the corner to recover.

Page grabs Kaz by the legs and pulls him up, but Kaz counters with a right hand, a chop to the chest, and another right to the face. Kaz whips Page into the ropes, but Page hits the corner and bounces off the second buckle with a flying clothesline! Page takes to the air, launching himself over the top rope to the outside, crashing onto Kaz with a heavy strike.

Arn Anderson: That’s what I’m talkin’ about! That reckless abandon is back in Hangman.

Page tosses Kaz back into the ring and hops onto the apron. Kaz swings with a right hand, but Page ducks and tries to re-enter, only for Kaz to hit a leg drop on Page’s neck as he hangs off the ropes! Kaz sprints to the corner, leaping with a flying leg drop onto Page. Kaz quickly transitions into a whip to the corner, bouncing off the ropes for a slick running Side Russian Leg Sweep.

Kaz shoves his hand in Page’s face, taunting him. Page shoves him back with a snarl, but Kaz counters by lifting him up for a suplex attempt. Page blocks, locking his leg, and Kaz clubs him in the back to break his resistance. Kaz hooks the leg for a Fisherman’s suplex, bridging into a pin—1…2…NO! Page kicks out!

Kaz clamps on a front facelock, trying to wear Page down. Page fights back to his feet, landing a series of punches to Kaz’s gut. Kaz clubs Page in the back to regain control, but Page lands a right hand, followed by another. Kaz answers with a strike of his own, but Page comes back with a forearm!

Both men trade forearms until Page hits the ropes, but Kaz is waiting with an elbow! Page bounces back with an elbow of his own! They both hit the ropes at full speed and collide in the middle of the ring with dueling clotheslines, neither man going down!

Kevin Kelly: What a slugfest this is turning into! Page is showing no signs of backing down!

Arn Anderson: This is that next-level toughness I’ve been talking about, Kev. Page has always had it in him, but now we’re seeing it come out when it matters most.

Kaz tries for a German suplex, but Page flips out of it, landing on his feet! Kaz spins with a clothesline, but Page ducks, hits the ropes, and floors Kaz with a thunderous clothesline! Page follows up with a series of right forearms, driving Kaz into the corner. Whip to Kaz—Kaz kicks out of the corner, hops to the second rope, and leaps off, but Page catches him mid-air! Fallaway Slam!

Hangman quickly follows up with a standing Shooting Star Press—cover! 1…2…NO! Kaz kicks out!

Kaz fights back with a sharp elbow, escaping to the apron. Page tries for a flying clothesline, but Kaz dodges and spikes Page with a DDT off the apron! Kaz capitalizes, going for the Unprettier—Page shoves him away! Kaz with a backslide—Page reverses and lifts him, but Kaz escapes! Kaz nails the Unprettier! Cover—1…2…NO! Page kicks out at the last second!

Kevin Kelly: How did Hangman kick out of that?!

Kaz looks frustrated as he sets up for a springboard Cutter, but Page catches him in mid-air with a Sit-Out Powerbomb! Cover—1…2…NO! Kaz stays alive!

Page rolls to the apron, ready to strike. He waits for Kaz to get to his feet, and as soon as he does, Hangman springboards for the Buckshot Lariat—but Kaz slides underneath him! Page backflips to the outside, lands on his feet, and takes a stiff right hand from Kaz. Page shakes it off, launches himself back into the ring, and blasts Kaz with a hard clothesline!

Kaz staggers, and Page, wasting no time, lines up for the Buckshot again. This time, he connects—BAM! Kaz crumples to the mat as Page covers—1…2…3!

Winner: Hangman Adam Page
Match Time: 16:33

Arn Anderson: With this new fire, Hangman’s sending a message to Omega and Danielson ahead of Sympathy for the Devil!

Page stands tall, glancing at the hard cam with a focused, cold expression. The crowd gives him a mixed reaction as we cut to commercial break.

SEGMENT TWO

The Knockouts Hardcore Champion Rhea Ripley and the Gold Rush Ladder Match winner Dominik Mysterio are making their way towards the gorilla position. Rhea has the Knockouts Championship slung over her shoulder, and Dom walks next to her, hyping her up for the upcoming gauntlet.

Dominik Mysterio: Don’t worry, Mami. You’re untouchable, that belt’s staying right where it belongs!

Rhea Ripley: [smirking] Damn right, Dom. Let ’em try.

As they approach the entrance curtain, Rhea’s theme music starts to kick in—but before she can make her grand entrance, out of nowhere—BAM!—Nia Jax blindsides Rhea from behind!

Kevin Kelly: [on commentary] What the—! It’s Nia Jax! The former Hardcore Champion just ambushed Rhea Ripley!

Rhea stumbles, caught off guard, and Nia wastes no time, grabbing her by the hair and tossing her into a stack of production crates. Rhea crashes hard, but quickly tries to get back to her feet.

Arn Anderson: Rhea Ripley didn’t see that coming! And unfortunately for “Mami,” this is the sort of environment Jax thrives in!

Nia pounces, landing a flurry of clubbing blows to Rhea’s back, sending her staggering deeper into the backstage area. Rhea fights back with a wild punch to Nia’s gut, but Nia shrugs it off and slams Rhea headfirst into a concrete wall! Rhea crumbles to the floor, dazed.

Dominik tries to jump in to help, shouting at Nia as he rushes to his feet.

Dominik Mysterio: Hey, back off! What the hell are you doing?

Jax glares at Dom, almost amused by his bravado. Before he can react, she hoists him up onto her shoulders and slams him through a table with a brutal Samoan Drop! Debris scatter everywhere as Dom lies motionless in the wreckage.

Kevin Kelly: Oh my God! Nia just flattened Dominik like he was nothing!

Arn Anderson: Dom might want to rethink getting involved with these heavyweights—he just got crushed!

Nia turns her attention back to Rhea, who’s slowly pulling herself up using the wall for support. Nia grins menacingly, grabbing Rhea by the throat and lifting her off the ground, ready to drive her into another set of crates.

But Rhea, despite the beating she’s taken, shows her resilience. She slams a knee into Nia’s midsection, forcing her to let go. Rhea follows up with a wicked headbutt, creating enough space to land a furious punch to Nia’s jaw.

They continue to brawl, exchanging heavy strikes as they move deeper into the backstage area, toppling monitors and crashing into production equipment.

As the camera fades from the chaos of the backstage brawl, the scene transitions with a sudden shift in tone, revealing a luxurious and somewhat gaudy locker room adorned with wedding decorations, tulle, and sequins galore. In the center of the room stands the towering Lady Love, dressed in a dramatic, flowing robe, flanked by her bridesmaids—Nyla Rose and Piper Niven. Both are standing with smiles on their faces, as Lady Love, in all her 12-foot glory, addresses them with grandeur.

Lady Love: [beaming, voice booming] Darlings, thank you so much for accepting my invitation to be bridesmaids for the Wedding of the Century! It means the world to me to have you two by my side for this monumental event. And trust me, it will be monumental.

Nyla nods enthusiastically, eyes full of admiration.

Nyla Rose: It’s an honor, Lady Love. I’ve always looked up to you—literally. I mean, you’re the reason I got into wrestling in the first place! You made me believe that no dream is too big.

Lady Love: [giggling] You’ve obviously never seen Midgey without his clothes on, because some dreams are.

Piper Niven, smiling warmly, chimes in.

Piper Niven: I’ve been a fan for years too. I’m just excited to help make your special day even more special. Whatever you need, I’m here for it.

Lady Love’s smile widens as she places a hand on her hip, clearly enjoying the adoration.

Lady Love: That’s good to hear, Piper, because we have just under five weeks to pull off the biggest spectacle in the history of this industry. This wedding is going to make every title match, every pay-per-view, look like a backyard barbecue.

Suddenly—BAM!—the door to the locker room flies open with a thunderous crash, toppling the grand Lady Love to the floor in a flurry of sequins and fabric! In come Rhea Ripley and Nia Jax, still in the middle of their furious backstage brawl!

Lady Love is knocked over like a fallen tree, gasping as she flails, trying to regain her balance, her once grand pose now crumpled in a heap on the floor. This sight enrages Piper Niven, who turns her fury toward Nia Jax.

Without hesitation, Piper charges at Nia and tackles her, sending both women crashing through Lady Love’s meticulously crafted wedding vision board—shattering her grand plans for the wedding in the process!

Lady Love: [dramatically] NOT THE VISION BOARD!

Rhea, spotting her opportunity, scrambles desperately to escape the locker room, running for her life as Nyla Rose and Piper Niven, now united in their rage, sprint after her. Lady Love, still tangled in her robe, slowly sits up, surveying the wreckage of her bridal dreams with a dramatic sigh.

Lady Love: [exasperated] This… is why I hang out with men.

Back at ringside, we see Rhea stumble through the curtain as she runs to the ring, Niven and Rose following behind her.

Match #2 | Knockouts Hardcore Championship Gauntlet

Ripley and Rose make it into the ring, as Niven cheers on her fellow bridesmaid from the outside. The two immediately collide, exchanging stiff punches. Ripley drives Rose back, but Rose is relentless. She scoops her up, looking for the Beast Bomb!

Arn Anderson: Nyla Rose looking to end this early with the Beast Bomb!

Ripley fights out, shoving Rose into the corner. Before Nyla can react, Ripley nearly decapitates her with a thunderous big boot, sending Nyla crashing to the mat. Ripley wastes no time, pulling Nyla up and nailing her with the Riptide! She hooks the leg—1… 2… 3! Nyla is eliminated!

Kevin Kelly: Ripley survives her first challenger, but Piper Niven is wasting no time! She looks ready to make Rhea regret entering the wedding planning area!

Niven slides in, clotheslining Ripley to the outside. The brawl spills to ringside, where Niven grabs a monitor from the announce desk and smashes it over Ripley’s head! Sparks fly, and Ripley crumbles to the floor.

Arn Anderson: Good God, Piper just sent sparks flying with that shot! Ripley’s out—this might be it!

Piper quickly covers Rhea on the outside, but somehow, Ripley kicks out at two! The crowd gasps in shock as Ripley barely survives. Niven goes for the Snake Bite, trying to end the match for good, but Ripley slides out just in time, sending Piper flying with a vicious spear through the barricade!

Ripley quickly covers Niven amidst the rubble. 1… 2… 3! Niven is eliminated, but before Rhea can even catch her breath, Kris Statlander rushes to the ring, the next challenger in the gauntlet.

Statlander enters with incredible momentum, hitting a somersault senton onto Ripley for a near fall! The crowd is on their feet as Statlander goes for an ax kick, but Ripley catches her mid-move, hoisting her up and powerbombing her onto the steel steps at ringside. The sickening thud echoes through the arena as Ripley covers her—1… 2… 3! Statlander is eliminated.

Arn Anderson: Statlander’s done! Ripley’s run through them all so far!

Ripley, exhausted but determined, makes her way back up the ramp, heading toward the exit—when suddenly, she’s blindsided by a returning Nia Jax, who tackles her right through the entryway, sending both women crashing to the ground!

Kevin Kelly: Jax is back! And she’s got unfinished business!

Nia slams Ripley’s head against the set, viciously pummeling her before lifting her for a Samoan Drop onto the stage. Nia covers—1… 2…—but before the count can reach three, Dominik Mysterio rushes out and breaks it up!

Arn Anderson: Dom to the rescue!

Nia, enraged, turns her attention to Dom, who wisely starts running for his life. As Jax is distracted, Ripley staggers to her feet. With a burst of energy, Ripley catches Nia off guard, hitting her with the Riptide off the stage! Both women crash through the tables below, debris flying everywhere!

Kevin Kelly: OH MY GOD! RIPLEY JUST PUT NIA THROUGH THE TABLES OFF THE STAGE!

Both women lie motionless as the Knockouts Official Kenzie rushes over to count. Ripley’s arm drapes over Jax—1… 2… 3! Rhea Ripley has survived the gauntlet!

Dominik, limping but still loyal, scoops Ripley up and quickly carries her out of the wreckage. The camera cuts to a worried-looking Arn Anderson and Kevin Kelly at ringside.

Arn Anderson: Megan Mouse-Zayn is not gonna be happy when she sees that Rhea Ripley survived this!

Kevin Kelly: Ripley’s still the Knockouts Hardcore Champion, but unfortunately, we’re out of time—we’ll see everyone Monday night on Dynamite!

Winner: Rhea Ripley
