AEW Chaos #008 (9.20.24)

SEGMENT ONE

As AEW Chaos comes on the air, Arn Anderson and Kevin Kelly welcome us to the show, before being almost immediately interupted by “This Year’s Girl.” As her theme music plays, eliciting boos from the audience, BWM Inc. Chairwoman Megan Mouse-Zayn makes her way down the aisle. She takes a microphone from the crew member at ringside, standing in the center of the ring as the music fades.

Megan Mouse-Zayn: [pausing to let the crowd quiet down] It’s been nearly three weeks since my husband, Sami Zayn, screamed in my face in front of the entire world.

The crowd boos at the mention of Zayn’s name, and Megan pauses for a brief second to absorb their reaction.

Megan Mouse-Zayn: I’ve had time to sit with that… to process it. And believe me, I was ready to offer Sami some forgiveness. After everything we’ve been through, I was willing to move forward. But Monday… Monday night caused me to change course a bit.

Megan Mouse-Zayn: Watching from our home in Stamford, I saw Liv Morgan.. plant a kiss on my husband’s lips. [pauses, seething] Now sure, Sami didn’t kiss her back. But the fact is, he didn’t exactly stop her either, did he?

Megan Mouse-Zayn: The man I fell for… the man I married… he was ruthless. Cunning. Tactical. Bold. This was the man who orchestrated the plan to take BWM Inc. from my father. The heist of the century. He knew exactly what it took to win, no matter the cost. But this man in front of me now? He’s consumed. Obsessed.

Megan paces a bit, before stopping directly in front of the hard camera.

Megan Mouse-Zayn: Not with me. Not with AEW. But with a ridiculous curse! [Megan’s voice is filled with disbelief] He’s scared of his own shadow, terrified of a grown man who dresses like a vampire. This is not the Sami Zayn I know and love.

The crowd pops at Megan’s reference to Danhausen, but she stays focus, gazing directly into the camera.

Megan Mouse-Zayn: As much as I hate to admit it… I know that Sami won’t be the man I fell in love with again until he deals with this ‘Danhausen’ threat head-on. And that’s why, using my authority as Chairwoman of BWM Inc., I am making it official.

Megan Mouse-Zayn: At Sympathy for the Devil, it will be Sami Zayn versus Danhausen! We’re going to settle this, once and for all.

Megan Mouse-Zayn: And this isn’t to punish Sami, no. [her voice softens a bit] It’s to save him. To save him from himself. Once this ridiculous curse is behind us, we can get back to what’s important—protecting Sami’s AEW World Heavyweight Championship as Elite Warfare approaches. And preparing for whatever it is my father, Benny Mouse, has planned for us.

Megan lowers the microphone slightly, her tone shifting once more, but she doesn’t leave the ring yet. She glances at the hard camera, her eyes narrowing as she addresses someone else.

Megan Mouse-Zayn: And Liv Morgan… Don’t think for a second that I’ve forgotten what you did. There will be retribution for that kiss. I can promise you that.

With that, Megan drops the microphone, the crowd roaring as her music hits again. She exits the ring without looking back, the message sent and the stakes raised.

The screen opens with a grand, glittering title: “Wedding of the Century,” with soft classical music playing in the background. The camera zooms in on a lavishly decorated ballroom, chandeliers glistening, flowers cascading from the ceiling, and a red carpet unfurling toward a golden altar.

Narrator: Prepare yourselves for an event unlike any other. In just 38 short days, at Sympathy for the Devil, the world will witness the biggest wedding in wrestling history.

Cut to Lady Love, towering in an ornate bridal gown, waving with queen-like grace. Midget Hogan stands beside her, grinning proudly in a sparkling tuxedo that’s just a little too shiny for comfort.

Narrator: Lady Love—the most glamorous woman to ever grace the ring—will tie the knot with the one and only Midget Hogan, a man small in stature, but larger than life in spirit!

Cut to scenes of doves flying, confetti raining down, and an orchestra playing a dramatic rendition of “Here Comes the Bride” as the couple walks down an impossibly long aisle.

Narrator: On October 28, witness the spectacle and come together in an unbreakable bond of love, glory, and glamor.

Quick flashes of over-the-top preparations: chefs creating a 15-tier cake, designers sewing an impossibly long train onto Lady Love’s dress, and Midget Hogan measuring a ring the size of a car tire.

Narrator: You are cordially invited to the Wedding of the Century.

Cut to a dramatic close-up of Lady Love and Midget Hogan posing, with a sparkling heart frame surrounding them. Fireworks explode behind them as they strike a pose, and a single dove lands on Midget Hogan’s head.

The vignette ends with a black screen, and gold lettering: October 28 – Sympathy for the Devil, Love Conquers All.

Match # 1 | Exhibition Match
Hook vs. Ludwig Kaiser w/ Gunther

Hook is out first to a big reaction from the crowd, as he makes his way to the ring, his demeanor calm but his eyes full of intensity. Kaiser is out next, smirking as he’s accompanied to the ring by AEW Television Champion, the Ring General Gunther.

Kevin Kelly: As we get set for Hook versus Ludwig Kaiser, it’s probably fair to say that Hook’s gotta have eyes in the back of his head tonight for this one.

Arn Anderson: No doubt about it, Kevin. This is a powder keg waiting to blow. Hook’s been gunning for Gunther, and tonight Ludwig Kaiser is hoping to soften up the cold-hearted handsome devil for the Ring General.

As the bell sounds, Hook immediately charges Kaiser, thrusting him into the corner with a shoulder tackle. He follows up with some quick shoulder thrusts, before unleashing some stiff rights as referee Lance Storm attempts to get the men out of the corner.

Kevin Kelly: Hook’s wasting no time here, and Ludwig Kaiser is in trouble!

Arn Anderson: Hook’s like a caged animal in there, and he ain’t here to play! Hook’s got bad intentions tonight, and after what these two men did to his father last week, I can’t say I blame him!

Kaiser tries to recover, sliding out of the ring to regroup. Hook quickly grabs him by his hair and yanks him back into the ring, whipping him into the turnbuckle. Hook follows up with a belly to belly suplex, sending Kaiser flying across the ring.

Hook’s momentum is stifled as Gunther jumps onto the apron, causing a distraction. Kaiser takes him down from behind with the chop block, as Hook crashes to the mat. Kaiser unleashes some vicious stomps as Gunther looks on in approval.

Arn Anderson: Kaiser took advantage of that split second distraction, and now Hook’s in trouble.

Kaiser stays on Hook, drilling him with a running enzuigiri. Kaiser continues to wear him down with methodical pace, as Gunther dictates instructions in his native tongue. Kaiser hits the snapmare, following by a running kick to Hook’s jaw. He attempts the STO DDT, but Hook reverses it into a throw, rallying the crowd behind him

Arn Anderson: The resilience of Hook is unreal!

Hook is quick back to his feet, and rushes Kaiser once more. He drills him with a few quick rights, before following up with a high angle suplex that dumps Kaiser right on his head. The crowd pops as Hook signals for Redrum. Before he can lock it in, Gunther slides into the ring and blasts him with a big boot to the back of the head!

Lance Storm immediately calls for the bell, signaling the disqualification.

Winner: Hook via DQ
Match Time: 6:30

Kevin Kelly: Just as Hook was about to finish Kaiser off, Gunther gets involved!

Arn Anderson: We knew this was gonna happen sooner or later. Gunther can’t stand by while Hook takes down his man.

As the bell rings over and over in the background, Gunther and Kaiser launch a brutal double-team assault on Hook, stomping him down before Kaiser lifts him up, holding him by his arms in place. Gunther unloads a series of ugly knife-edged chops that immediately bruise Hook’s chest, as the crowd boos loudly at the assault.

Kevin Kelly: This is sickening! Gunther and Kaiser are tearing Hook apart, and there’s nobody out here to help!

Suddenly, the lights go out, and the ominous sound if a heartbeat starts playing over the speakers, growing louder and louder. The crowd erupts as the lights come back on as the beats reach a crescendo, and the family music of Taz plays! The Human Suplex Machine rushes down the ramp, as Taz slides into the ring.

Gunther and Kaiser look shocked, momentarily freezing in place. Taz explodes, tackling Kaiser and taking him to the ground. Gunther tries to pull Taz off, but with Hook back to his feet, he sends Gunther toppling over the ropes with a hard-hitting lariat.

Kevin Kelly: Taz has come to the rescue of his son, and this place is going wild!

Taz locks Kaiser into a vicious Tazmission, choking the life out of him as Kaiser struggles, his eyes bulging from the pressure. Gunther tries to go after Taz, but Hook cuts him off, throwing strikes and keeping the big man at bay. Eventually, Gunther realizes the numbers aren’t in his favor and drags Kaiser out of the ring, retreating up the ramp with a furious look on his face

Arn Anderson: Look at that—Gunther and Kaiser are getting the hell out of dodge!

Taz and Hook stand tall in the middle of the ring, father and son, united in their fight against Imperium. The crowd cheers as Taz throws his signature pose, while Hook looks ready to fight again.

Kevin Kelly: It’s disappointing to see the match fall apart like that, but you can feel it in the air—this is far from over!

Arn Anderson: These four men are destined to clash again, Kelly. When they finally settle this score, it’s going to be an all-out war.

The camera lingers on Taz and Hook standing tall in the ring as the show fades to commercial.

SEGMENT TWO

As the scene opens, we see a room that is cast in deep shadows, with only a sliver of light cutting through the darkness. In the center is a man, hunched over, his presence feels ghostly as the camera pushes in. The camera zooms revealing Brandon Lee, as a faint ticking noise is heard in the background.

Brandon Lee: [quietly, almost to himself] Two decades.. and all they remember is my shadow.

Lee lifts his head, the light revealing his painted face – weathered yet defiant.

Brandon Lee: They called me the future. A prodigy… but time has a cruel way of erasing you when you don’t live up to the prophecy. I’ve watched men rise, fall, and be remembered. But me? I’ve been left in the corners of their minds, a whisper. A memory fading into the void.

Lee’s expression hardens, a glint of something darker flashing in his eyes.

Brandon Lee: Greatness isn’t just about what you take in this business… it’s about what you leave behind. And for 20 years, I’ve been walking that line. On the verge. On the edge. Almost there, but never quite enough.

Lee rises from his seated position, and approaches the window in the room. The shot changes to show the camera on the outside looking in, Lee’s reflection haunting.

Brandon Lee: [voice growing darker, more intense] I’ve bled in that ring. My sweat soaked into every canvas I’ve ever touched. I’ve lived in the shadow of that ‘next big moment’ for two damn decades. They said, “Brandon Lee, the future.” But now, they whisper… “Brandon Lee… The Forgotten.

Lee begins pacing slowly, like a man trapped in his own history, wrestling with the ghosts of his past.

Brandon Lee: But forgotten doesn’t mean finished, does it? Not yet. As the sun sets on my career, it’s time to begin the final act. One final stage to stand on before the darkness takes me for good. And when it’s done and over, no one will ever forget my name again.

Lee’s eyes lock directly into the camera.

Brandon Lee: AEW… you’ve all forgotten me, too. But I’ll remind you. I’ll remind you all that when the Forgotten rise, they rise with the weight of all they’ve been denied.

The camera zooms in uncomfortably close on his eyes, as he stares back at the viewer.

Brandon Lee: The final act is approaching. And when that curtain falls for the final time, you’ll remember my name.

The light flickers and the room is enveloped in darkness as the words, “The Forgotten Brandon Lee – Coming Soon” appear before the scene fades out.

Match #2 | AEW Knockouts Championship
Miss Athena Star (C) vs. Paige

Kevin Kelly: What a treat for fans of women’s wrestling, as two of the best of all time meet for a true dream match here on Chaos! These two have never competed against one another before, and the stakes couldn’t be higher!

Arn Anderson: Athena Star’s been dominant as champion, but Paige is a wild card. She’s hungry to prove herself here in All Elite Wrestling.

They lock up, and immediately both women start jockeying for position. Athena Star uses her strength to back Paige into the ropes, but Paige slips out, grabbing a headlock and taking the champion down to the mat. Athena quickly counters, rolling through and locking Paige in a hammerlock, forcing her to the ground.

Paige fights back to her feet, using her agility to twist out of the hold and deliver a shoulder block, sending Athena to the mat. Paige hits the ropes, but Athena Star kips up and counters with a swift clothesline that sends Paige reeling. Athena follows up with a quick elbow drop for a near fall.

Athena Star continues the offense, whipping Paige into the corner. She charges forward with her signature handspring back elbow, but Paige catches her with a boot to the face, stunning the champion. Paige climbs to the second rope and leaps off with a crossbody, but Athena rolls through, using Paige’s momentum to pick her up and slam her down with authority. Another cover, but Paige kicks out at two.

The match intensifies as both women rise to their feet. Athena goes for a suplex, but Paige counters mid-air, landing on her feet behind Athena and hitting a snap German suplex. Paige quickly transitions into a cover, but Athena kicks out at the last second. Paige starts to gain momentum, delivering stiff kicks to Athena’s midsection, driving her into the corner.

Paige charges at Athena, but the champion dodges, sending Paige shoulder-first into the turnbuckle. Wasting no time, Athena Star hooks Paige up in the ropes, twisting her into a modified submission using the ring ropes for leverage. Knockouts Official Kenzie forces Athena to break the hold, but the damage has been done.

Kevin Kelly: Athena Star using every trick in the book to wear Paige down! That’s what being a champion is all about.

Athena Star follows up with a low crossbody in the corner, driving all her weight into Paige for another close near fall. The champion then locks in a chinlock, trying to wear Paige down further, but Paige fights her way out, stomping on Athena’s toes and catching her with a surprise headbutt that sends the champion stumbling.

Arn Anderson: Paige with that vicious headbutt! She knows what’s at stake here tonight – her chance to hold the most coveted prize in women’s wrestling.

Kevin Kelly: The lineage of the Knockouts Championship is rich with history, and Paige is looking to dethrone Star as the face of the division!

Paige grabs Athena and sets her up for the elevated cloverleaf submission, lifting Athena off the mat. Athena struggles, but she refuses to tap, showing incredible resilience. Using her legs, she kicks Paige off, managing to free herself. As Paige charges again, Athena counters with a swift inside cradle, but Paige kicks out at two.

Both women rise back to their feet, as Paige catches Athena’s foot as she attempts a big boot in the corner and pulls her in, looking for a superplex. Paige gets Athena up, but Athena fights back, nailing Paige with several elbows to the midsection. Paige is stunned, and Athena Star follows up with a thunderous superplex from the top rope! The crowd erupts as both women lie on the mat, exhausted.

Athena Star crawls over for the cover, but Paige gets a foot on the ropes at the last possible moment. The champion looks frustrated but determined, as she pulls Paige up and nails her with a pair of stiff superkicks to the jaw.

Athena Star heads to the top rope, the crowd roaring as she looks to finish the match. She flies off with her signature 4:20 Splash, landing it perfectly across Paige’s body for the emphatic three-count!

Winner: Miss Athena Star
Match Time: 13:50

The crowd erupts in applause as Athena Star stands tall, holding her title high in the air. Paige slowly gets to her feet, clutching her ribs, but there’s no animosity in her eyes. She approaches Athena, offering her hand. Athena looks at her for a moment before shaking it, a sign of mutual respect.

Paige: [whispering to Athena, off-mic] You had my number this time… but next time, I’ll be ready.

Athena nods, smiling with confidence as Paige exits the ring, leaving the champion to celebrate her hard-fought victory.

As Star celebrates, Anderson and Kelly sign off and say they’ll see us Monday night for Dynamite, briefly hyping the anticipated encounter between MJF and Will Ospreay as the show fades to black.
