STAMFORD, CT – Is there ever a more exciting time in the world of professional wrestling than the week before the World of Wrestling Draft and Starrcade? As you’re all aware, thanks to Sami Zayn, this year’s World of Wrestling Draft will be televised for the first time ever! On top of that, the Chairman of BWM Inc. has suggested bringing back the World of Wrestling Award show for the first time in two decades. With the addition of the televised Draft and the incorporation of the WOW Awards into Starrcade, my husband Sami has effectively tripled revenue for everyone involved and expanded the annual event into a week-long festivity! And as if that weren’t impressive enough, he also negotiated the location to be Charleston, West Virginia! Is there anything my husband—the World Heavyweight Champion—can’t do?!
I could go on about how great my husband is or how excited we at BWM Inc. are for the upcoming festivities, but that’s not the point of this press release. I’m issuing this release today for two reasons. Firstly, I wanted to offer a few thoughts on the week we’ve had in Memphis, where Sami and I attended the funerals of my uncles Vinny and Mickey on Thursday and Friday. There have been some who have been critical of our decision not to bring my father Benny to say goodbye to his brothers, but the truth is, with Benny’s current health, we feared what such tragic news would do to his already fragile state.
The mood was somber in Memphis, but I did get a chance to speak with my dear cousin Catherine face-to-face for the first time in years. Growing up, Catherine was always kind to me and was the only member of the Mouse family to treat me as an equal. The world knows how I feel about my cousin, and I’m happy to say that with the recent trade between BWM Inc. and Cash Mouse Enterprises, I’m hopeful that my relationship with Catherine will only continue to improve and thrive from here on out.
The truth is, I’ve lost my father, too, though not in the same way as my cousin. Yes, Benny still breathes, but his mind is gone. The lengths Sami went to help Benny hide the effects of his dementia could never be overstated; he tried to help my father preserve his company and his dignity. But when it came time for Benny to seek professional help, he was stubborn and resisted. That’s why Sami had Armageddon expedite the process. We want the world to remember Benny Wade Mouse as the man who came up from nothing and ran the most successful ratings juggernaut in the industry’s history. We wanted him to go out on top.
This week has been a time of reflection, but now it’s time for us all to move forward. All Elite Wrestling will continue to thrive under Sami and me, and we will help grow BWM Inc. to heights my father never could have imagined. The upcoming third season of AEW will bring you more action and will break new barriers.
We’re excited to keep alive my father’s idea of themed episodes of Dynamite, an idea that originated with the 17th episode, entitled “Dragon’s Fury.” On July 29, to celebrate the 30th episode, I am announcing a PPV-caliber show entitled “Cruel Summer.”
I look forward to seeing everyone a week from today as we kick off Starrcade week with the 2024 World of Wrestling Draft. Sami and I have been discussing strategy for weeks, and we are prepared to put together the greatest roster of talent the industry has ever seen!
