Hey there, wrestling fans! Welcome to On Tap, the latest concoction from yours truly, Chris Hyatt, where I’ll be dishing out a sneak peek of what’s brewing in the world of wrestling for the week ahead!
Now, in previous weeks, I’ve been tacking these previews onto the end of the Superstar Series, but guess what? No guest in sight this week! But fear not, because I’ve got something even juicier for you: WWE & PWI previews for tomorrow night! So buckle up, folks, because we’re about to dive in headfirst!
WWE:
To begin, I’ve got some juicy intel straight from the grapevine over at Murrey Entertainment! Word on the street is, as we gear up for the “7th Era,” WWE’s not holding back on the shake-ups. You know those four shows a week we were spoiled with last week? Well, buckle up because it looks like that’s the new norm! But wait, there’s more! Rumor has it, WWE’s gearing up to push the envelope even further in the upcoming era, promising more industry firsts, fresher storylines, and a whole lot more surprises in store!
This week on Raw, we’re in for a treat with the ongoing U.S. Championship tournament, featuring none other than Chad Gable and Austin Theory! Now, my sources have been buzzing about this one, and it seems like Gable’s got the edge here, especially since he ditched that, shall we say, interesting haircut. Poor Theory, though, seems to have hit a bit of a slump since his early days in the company, aside from that feud with Gargano which he aced. But hey, there’s still hope for a Theory comeback, especially since BWM Inc. has their sights set on him for the summer draft! Keep your eyes peeled, folks!
The Final Judgement crew – Dom Mysterio, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley – are hitting the scene on Monday night, aiming to reclaim their mojo. Now, with the Bloodline stealing the spotlight as the undisputed top dogs in the stable department, all eyes are on where these three powerhouses will land. My take? Priest and the Rock might just have a showdown brewing before the Rock’s title reign wraps up, but that’s gonna need some serious effort from the company to beef up Priest and the gang’s credibility. Let’s see if they’ve got what it takes! Furthermore, Rhea needs to regain some of that buzz she came in with following her failure to unseat Asuka as Women’s Champion at TNF 2.
Additionally, I think we’ll see some follow-up from last Friday’s shocking arrival of Chris Jericho, who I believe will replace Drew McIntyre as the heir apparent for the number one contender’s spot for the WWE Championship.
In other news from M.E., we’ve learned that the New Day is putting their tag titles on the line against the Doc Brown Six’s Santos Escobar and Buddy Murphy at Backlash. Can’t say I’ve got the crystal ball on where this feud’s headed just yet, but hey, it’s about time Buddy Murphy gets a chance to shine and show us what he’s made of since his debut a few years back.
And that’s not all for Backlash! Johnny Lawrence is stepping up to defend his IC Championship against Bobbly Lashley, and Asuka is gearing up to defend her title against Lacey Evans. Stay tuned as these storylines unfold in the coming weeks!
PWI:
Monday kicks off the first time both PWI and HCW will have Monday shows, and although there’s no card available for HCW Mayhem, we do have the card for Asylum!
In the spirit of southern chaos, we’re kicking off with an open invitation tag team hardcore match to determine the next challengers for the Young Bucks. Picture a reverse battle royal where the first two teams to hit the ring are in the mix. My money’s on Beer Money to come out on top once again and stake their claim for the gold.
Then, we’re diving into the long-awaited showdown between AJ Lee and Paige, likely to put a bow on this ongoing saga as we edge closer to AJ Lee facing off against Becky Lynch. With AJ needing the win, my bet’s on her, but expect some Lynch-related shenanigans to spice things up.
In what’s shaping up to be the final chapter of their feud, Sean Spears is bracing for another defeat in a Falls Count Anywhere match against Matt Cardona. Cardona can’t afford any setbacks as he gears up for what should be a headline-grabbing showdown for the Undisputed Championship at Armageddon 4. And call me a hopeful dreamer, but I’m still holding out for a twist that sees Randy Orton crashing that main event scene for a much-needed resolution to his year-long rivalry with Dragonfly.
In the main event, the Women’s Premier Athlete tournament reaches its climax with the coronation of the Women’s International Champion. Now, forgive my curiosity, but is this a standalone title or a merger with the existing Women’s Championship? And what’s the distinction between “international” and “world” titles? These are the burning questions on my mind, and I’m sure Lenny will be all too eager to enlighten us with his trademark self-aggrandizement. But I digress! With contenders like Alexa Bliss, Ruby Riott, Zelina Vega, and Charlotte Flair in the mix, it’s anyone’s guess who’ll emerge victorious. My money’s on Charlotte, but if the goal is to unify the titles, Bliss might just retain her crown.
Monday night promises to be a whirlwind of answers and excitement! And let’s not overlook AEW Dynamite, where Benny’s Decision hangs in the balance alongside explosive matchups like the Acclaimed taking on Jurassic Express, Roman locking horns with Wardlow, Sting facing off against Guevara, and a colossal tag team clash pitting Belair & Rousey against Banks & Chyna! With so much on the line, it’s a night you won’t want to miss!
