WWE Confirms Wrestle Empire as Flagship Event; Clarifies Championship Status and Operational Structure

Stamford, CT — WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque issued the following statement today to address recent speculation and clarify the company’s direction heading into the new year.

“WWE will continue to recognize Wrestle Empire as our flagship event,” said Levesque. “After careful consideration, Final Bell has been scrapped. Our focus is on delivering clarity, consistency, and the highest level of storytelling and competition, and Wrestle Empire represents that vision.”

Levesque also addressed questions surrounding WWE’s ownership and daily operations. “While Mr. Murrey remains the owner, he does not oversee day-to-day operations for WWE or TNA. Those responsibilities remain with our executive teams. Mr. Murrey has personally apologized to both myself and Carlos Silva, and he is now focused on maintaining a positive and productive business relationship moving forward.”

Regarding championship status, WWE confirmed that the Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship are not unified. “Chad Gable currently holds both titles, and he’s earned that distinction,” Levesque noted. “However, each championship will be defended separately, preserving their individual legacies and competitive structures.”

Levesque further announced a comprehensive reset at the start of the year. “Beginning at the start of the new year, all WWE championships—whether previously vacated or retired—will be active and officially recognized. This applies across the board. Additionally, NXT will remain fully active, continuing to serve as a vital part of our ecosystem and the future of WWE.”

Levesque concluded, “We appreciate the passion of our fans and partners. Transparency matters, and we’re excited about what’s ahead.”

Thank you all for your time.

Urgent Press Release

Monday December 29th

Mr.Murrey:

“Members of the press, thank you for joining me here today. The last stretch of 2025 has been a difficult one from a corporate standpoint. Admittedly, we have struggled with deciding how to move forward and push the Wrestling International Network platform. We have tossed around ideas of bringing back the NWA. That idea was scrapped. Today, we have decided, before entering 2026, to scrap our financial backing for a a TNA revival. I have taken into account what pundits have said about minor league promotions. Normally, I wouldn’t listen to the pundits but in this case they are right. I promised from the very beginning that I wouldn’t deal in over saturation. I intend to keep that promise. WWF was the O.G. product and now WWE is the finished product in the Apex Era. WWE will return for the start of its new season on January 2, 2026 for Friday Night Smackdown. We look forward to seeing you there!”

“Also, we would like to wish The Most Wanted Man Nic Nemeth, Elijah, and Matt Cardona all the best in their future endeavors.”
