Mission in Waiting – Who will shine through tonight?
Tonight we continue building the stage for the impending 40-man super tournament to crown our new Undisputed Champion. On tap for this evening’s installment of qualification matches are the following:
Third Tier Qualification: Big Cass v. Aiden English v. Orange Cassidy
Aiden English successfully freed himself (with some help from an old Bulgarian friend) of the drama with the Duct Tape Men, and now he is attempting to win another tournament. This time, it’s the ultimate tournament.
However, his opponents should not be underestimated. While largely quiet this season, Big Cass and Orange Cassidy hide their determination until the moment of truth arrives.
Cass has been overlooked his whole career despite his size and talents. His tag partner in the Indies got in trouble and was unable to follow him to the big stage, but that hasn’t stopped Cass from trying. When Cass was drafted, you could hear the derisive comment from WWE commentary when they quipped “Good for Cass, he’s got a job.” Is that all Cass is? A punch line?
As for Orange, we’ve seen what he is made of in AEW, but now is his chance to show the world that he is more than his “lazy” moveset. The guy is used to making people laugh, but is he ready to make them ooo and ahhh?
Spotlight Interview: Thea Hail
Joining Lawrence Mason tonight will be the ever-energetic Chase U-“grad” Thea Hail. Thea had a lot of buzz when she was signed back in the summer, but we have yet to see what she can offer. I look forward to hearing what she has to say tonight!
Second Tier Qualification: Pete Dunne v. Jungle Boy
We heard the pep talk that Jungle Boy gave his partner Luchasaurus last week. Will he manage to seize this moment en route to another world title? Sure, he has the ability to, but he mustn’t dare look too far beyond Pete Dunne.
Dunne is a former Ascendant and Tag Champion, and you have to know that his hunger for gold is now stronger than ever. He has a ruthlessness that is often forgotten because of his silly streak.
I have a feeling that no one will be laughing at either man tonight, though!
That’s what’s on tap for tonight! Tomorrow or Sunday we will have another review (as Anthony returns to discuss WWE and I give the preview of what’s to come next week), so stay tuned!
Until our next Quest, this has been Johnny with yet another mission!
