Cold Open 🌟

Raw opens with a shot of CEO Murrey standing center stage, microphone in hand, with a mischievous grin on his face. Pete the Ref stands beside him, nodding eagerly, waiting for his cue to chime in.

CEO Murrey:

“Well, folks, what a week it’s been in the world of, uh, ‘competition.’ If that’s what we’re calling ULW these days. And did you all see who they crowned as their new champion? None other than the King of Selfies, Mr. ‘Let Me Remind You I Was In HLW Once’ himself… Matt Cardona!”

Pete the Ref:

(Chiming in, a beat late) “Yeah, King of Selfies! Selfie King! Hah! Good one, pops!”

Murrey gives him a sideways glance but continues.

CEO Murrey:

“Cardona’s reign as champion is gonna be like his time in HLW—a flash in the pan, except this time it’s probably because his camera ran out of storage.”

Pete the Ref:

“Yeah, camera ran out of storage! Classic!”

Murrey sighs, visibly annoyed, but presses on.

CEO Murrey:

“I mean, Cardona winning a championship is like Pete here winning an award for Best Referee. It’s a nice thought, but…”

Pete the Ref:

“B-but it’ll never happen! Hah! Never! Good one, dad!”

Murrey pauses, trying to keep his cool, but Pete’s over-enthusiasm is starting to grate on him.

CEO Murrey:

“Anyway, while Cardona’s out there living in the past, we here in WWE are all about the future, baby! And speaking of the future, Pete, I’m thinking of a future where you say just… a little… less.”

Pete the Ref:

(Nervous but still repeating) “A little less! Ha… ha… little less.”

Murrey rolls his eyes, reaching down beside him and lifting a book labeled “How to Win a Match Without Actually Winning a Match: The Matt Cardona Guide.” He glares at Pete, who looks up and gives an eager thumbs-up.

CEO Murrey:

“Pete, maybe you should read up. You might learn something!”

With a quick flick, Murrey tosses the book at Pete’s head. It bounces off, and Pete stands there, dazed, but still smiling, not quite catching on.

Pete the Ref:

(Blinking) “Good one, papa!”

The crowd laughs, and Murrey sighs, muttering, “This is why we’re still number one.” The camera zooms in on Murrey’s smirk as he signals for the next segment, and Raw’s intro music kicks in.

Kurt Angle vs Chad Gable ✴️

The crowd roars as the bell rings, signaling the start of the exhibition match between Chad Gable and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. Both men circle each other, eyes locked in mutual respect but also intense determination. The commentary team reminds the audience of Angle’s legendary career and Gable’s rising star, with Pat McAfee calling this a “dream matchup” for technical wrestling fans.

Gable and Angle lock up in the center of the ring, each man testing the other’s strength. Angle quickly takes control, getting behind Gable with a waist lock and throwing him down to the mat in classic amateur wrestling style. Gable rolls through, determined to escape, and manages to reverse into his own waist lock, briefly gaining control before Angle powers out and stands up. They separate, and the crowd applauds the display of technical skill.

Both men go back in, and this time Gable surprises Angle with a lightning-fast armdrag. Angle springs back up, a small grin on his face, impressed with Gable’s speed. They go through a quick series of holds and reversals, moving seamlessly from arm bars to wrist locks and headlocks. Gable shows impressive flexibility, slipping out of Angle’s grip time and time again. Angle, though, eventually catches Gable off guard with a takedown, transitioning into an ankle lock attempt. Gable scrambles to the ropes, narrowly avoiding being caught. The crowd cheers as Angle and Gable take a moment to reset.

Angle begins to turn up the heat, backing Gable into the corner with a series of hard strikes. He sends Gable into the ropes, going for a belly-to-belly suplex, but Gable twists mid-air, countering with a crossbody and rolling Angle into a pin for a quick two-count. Surprised, Angle kicks out and immediately goes back on the offensive, nailing Gable with a German suplex that sends him flying across the ring.

Gable, ever resilient, rolls through and charges at Angle, hitting a single-leg takedown and following up with a beautiful bridging German suplex. The referee counts to two before Angle powers out, and the crowd is on its feet, appreciating the pure wrestling on display.

Angle, seeing Gable’s stamina, gets serious, hitting three consecutive German suplexes in a row, each one with more intensity than the last. Angle climbs the ropes, setting up for a moonsault, but Gable rolls out of the way at the last second. Angle crashes to the mat, clutching his ribs, and Gable seizes the opportunity to lock in an ankle lock of his own on Angle! The crowd goes wild, watching as Gable tries to force a tap-out.

But Angle channels his veteran strength, crawling and reaching until he’s able to flip Gable forward, escaping the hold. Angle then hits a quick Angle Slam, going for the pin. The ref counts – one, two… but Gable kicks out just in time! Angle sits up, clearly surprised but also proud of his opponent.

Both men struggle to their feet, exhausted but determined to win. Angle goes for another Angle Slam, but Gable reverses it mid-move, sliding down and locking Angle into a small package pin. The referee drops down – one, two… Angle kicks out! Gable quickly transitions into position and nails Angle with his finishing move, the Chaos Theory rolling German suplex, bridging for the pin. One… two… three!

Winner: Chad Gable

The crowd erupts as the referee raises Gable’s hand in victory. Angle stands, a proud smile on his face, as he approaches Gable. The two men shake hands in the center of the ring, with Angle giving Gable a respectful nod before leaving the ring to allow Gable his moment to soak in the victory. Gable bows to the audience, clearly emotional after defeating his idol in such a high-stakes exhibition.
