Good evening, fellow fans of professional wrestling, it’s me again, but this time I am here with a special entry: an interview with the reigning Undisputed Champion of HCW and PWI, Dragonfly! Let’s see what the champion has to say!
(LM = Lenny Mouse, DF = Dragonfly)
LM – Dragonfly, thank you for joining me this evening. I have to admit that I was kind of surprised that you responded to my call requesting this sit-down.
DF – Why? There’s no better topic than myself, and as long as that remains the topic I will always be pleased to talk.
LM – Alright, well, here we sit now 10 days removed from your 500th Day as PWI Undisputed Champion. How are you feeling as we lead up to this landmark achievement?
DF – Well, I have to confess that I always knew I was capable of this. If anyone was ever going to be an active champion in this business for 500 days, it was me.
LM – I notice that everyone keeps using that verbal asterisk…
DF – What? What did you just say???
LM – Well…I mean, come on. You know that this is only the 3rd longest continuous reign in the history of the industry, right?
DF – Oh, please!
LM – No, seriously. Granddaddy Duxen reigned as EWA Champion for 731…
DF – Wow. That reign was a joke, and you know it, Leonard! The only reason he was champion for that long was because EWA was the vacation spot for professional wrestlers. You go there to avoid work. Plain and simple. His lengthy reign is the one which deserves the asterisk!
LM – And then there’s Teo…
DF – (angrily scowls at me) What about him?
LM – Teo technically holds the longest reign in Mmouse Enterprises history, as PWI Champion – in fact – at 567 Days…
DF – Listen to yourself, Leonard! It was a “technicality”. His reign deserves the asterisk alongside Duxen’s for the same reason: because their respective periods as champion were marred by a lack of consistent activity in the company over which they reigned.
LM – Yet Teo actually unified the PWI Title with the WOW Undisputed Title at your expense during that reign…
DF – (Stands up defiantly) I am about to leave…
LM – No…wait!
DF – We drop this topic right now. I told you that my happiness to talk is absolutely predicated on me remaining the main topic!
LM – Fair, but you still remain the topic…
DF – Not when you are comparing my legitimate history-making reign to those frauds!!
LM – Ok, but you have to admit that there is a shroud of confusion which will always complicate this milestone.
DF – I don’t have to admit shit, but we will have to let the people out there decide. Teo and Duxen may hold longer reigns, but they will never be able to claim that they were defending champions throughout. I will always be able to tell people that mine is the greatest reign of all time as I am the GREATEST SUPERSTAR OF ALL TIME!
LM – Believe me, we all know. You never let us forget it.
DF – Should you forget it?
LM – No…
DF – Exactly. Now, next question before I lose my patience and leave you in my rear-view mirror.
LM – Fine then. As a segue, it is pertinent to ask your thoughts about the upcoming match tomorrow night to determine your challenger at the first installment of the Global Conflict Series. Do you have a preference?
DF – My preference is to get it over with. We all know that my hand will be raised in 8 days and I will mark that occasion immediately with my 500 Day Reign Celebration Ceremony!
LM – You remain confident that you can beat Randy Orton with Mickey in exile?
DF – I don’t need Mickey.
LM – You did at Starrcade.
DF – Listen you idiot, I had Orton beat! I will prove it at Global Conflict!
LM – What about the Ultimate Warrior? Is there some deal arranged for him to lie down for you?
DF – (scoffs) What the hell are you talking about?! I will never need anyone to make any such arrangements to fix my matches for me!! Warrior, Orton, God-fucking-zilla, it doesn’t matter who I face! I! Will! Win!!
LM – I suppose that’s a fair prediction given that you are closing in on 18 months as champion…
DF – You’re goddamn right it’s a “fair prediction”. Have you not been watching me conquer that ring for the past 21+ years?!
LM – I have…
DF – Yeah, about as well as Mr. Magoo, it would seem!
LM – Ok, moving on…
DF – Good!
LM – …there is some speculation that you may be considering retirement soon. Is there any truth to that?
DF – (smirks) I will determine when that time comes, but I will say this: I have nothing left to prove to these people. I have done everything that I can possibly do in this industry, and I think it is safe to say that the bar I have established since I was introduced by Jeff Murrey in the North Division as “Krusader’s Cousin” can not be questioned nor surpassed. There is not a single expert or honest observer who can seriously ignore my claim to being the greatest superstar to ever walk into a wrestling ring. Splinter, Slammu, Krusader, Teo, Rhyno, and on and on…they are all mere footnotes in the history of this industry compared to me. Besides, Memorial Day is likely the end of it all anyways, so I don’t think this conversation will mean much when that day passes.
LM – Do you think Mickey will succeed?
DF – I don’t care and we are not talking about him nor are we discussing his insane plans. We will stick to the topic or I am gone.
LM – Ok…if you had a chance to wrestle anyone in AEW or WWE, who would you choose?
DF – (laughs out loud) As if anyone over there would be worthy of my time?
LM – Do you not have a person in mind?
DF – Well, since you asked…I have two in mind – one from each company: AJ Styles from AEW and Lexis King from WWE.
LM – Interesting choices, indeed. Why those two?
DF – Of course they are interesting choices! Everything is automatically interesting when I bring it up. I picked AJ because he reminds me of myself if I were less active and a little slower, and I see something special in King. Maybe I will reach out and mentor him if this whole thing doesn’t die at Armageddon.
LM – What about Matt Cardona? Some consider that to be a dream match of sorts.
DF – Well those dipshits can keep on dreaming, because he will never reach a level worthy of sharing a ring with me. (Laughs)
LM – There is one superstar who you have yet to face, but whom you recently told you would “deal with later”: LA Knight. How about him?
DF – (Stops laughing and leans in) LA Knight is a pest. He is a man who came here on a hot streak and got too damn big for his own britches too quickly. His little run may have slowed too much for him to earn that shot any time soon, but he is definitely on my radar.
LM – Does that mean that you view him as a threat?
DF – (Scoffs again) Don’t be ridiculous, Leonard! No one, and I do mean NO ONE, will ever be a threat to Dragonfly! (Leaves)
With that, our interview came to an abrupt end. I did enjoy this special sit down – even if the champ was abusive -, and I look forward to doing more sit downs as we hurdle towards the final stretch in the history of PWI! Thank you for reading and stay tuned for some breaking news in the coming hours!!
