AXW Friday Night Superstardom 12.2.22

AXW Friday Night Superstardom (12.2.22)

World Champion Matt Cardona made a blockbuster announcement concerning Revolution Rumble which will take place on January 28th, 2023 in the Alamodome. Cardona announced that he will defend the title in the 30 man Rumble!!

Jay Lethal vs Darby Allin

It was a competitive match between the two-with Lethal looking to continue his hot streak coming off his win against a struggling Matt Riddle. The match was really good, which is no real surprise given those involved. The fact that a debuting Ricky Starks helped Lethal secure another win begs to question if Lethal doesn’t feel secure enough to keep a winning streak going on his own. Darby was irate after the match, throwing chairs and demanding for Absolute Ricky Starks to try him again!

Result: Lethal pins Darby after the Lethal Injection

Six Man Tag

Matt Riddle and SCU v. Matt Cardona and Money Inc.

This was another competitive match in a string of them tonight, with Cardona’s team looking mighty impressive despite an exciting showing from SCU. Matt Riddle once again was not on his game and proved to be a crutch for his team. Matt Cardona hit Radio Silence on Riddle and once again pinned the former champion in the center of the ring.

After the match, Cardona was attacked by Damian Priest! Priest has arrived and promises to be the next AXW Champion!

Result: Cardona pins Riddle

Merch Sales Segment

We see a frustrated Aiden English looking down at a full merch table with no line of people. As he looks to his side, the camera pans over and we see a long line almost going out of the arena doors lined at another merch table. At this table we see Michael J. Fox, Ralph Macchio, and William Zabka from Cobra Kai. English screams, “I have had it, you don’t treat a PWI Hall of Famer this way!” He then rushes the table but is accidentally and violently slapped by Michael J. Fox. Fox was trying to sign an autograph and lost control.

Main Event Championship

Wade Barrett v. Orange Cassidy

What ensued was a premium live event worthy encounter as Barrett and Cassidy tore the house down with a performance that should elevate them both in the eyes of the fans. Orange finally looked like the championship contender that we know him to be as he showcased his high flying maneuvers. Meanwhile, Barrett continued with a ruthless brawling style that has made him a success across multiple promotions. A great main event that is worth going out of your way to see, capped off with the unthinkable happening. Orange was able to hit the beach break and before Big Cass could interfere, Kris Statlander low blows Cass to help Orange win his first title in AXW! Welcome to the show, Kris Statlander! It pays to have a best friend!

Result: Orange pins Barrett.
